VogueFabricsDalston '95- A Year in Dance-Saturday 16th May

May 5, 2015 admin
Vogue-Fabrics-95_May-16th.jpg

ANYONE BORN IN 1995 GETS IN FOR FREE BEFORE MIDNIGHT AND FOR CHEAP AFTER. BRING ID!* Following our trips back in time from 1989-1986, and then magically forward in time to 1990-1994, we continue moving forward to 1995.

The year when dance music started splitting into more and more sub-genres. From trip-hop to jungle to gabba to chillout.... and house started to become tougher on one end and more handbag on the other. The charts were still dominated by all things Eurodance.

Neil Prince and David Oh will be taking a trip back to the dance sounds of 1995, playing the tracks that are inspiring a whole batch of current electronic artists, from Hercules and Love Affair to Disclosure to Duke Dumount and beyond. From those which still get plenty of love on dancefloors, to those which time has unfairly forgotten. We'll be throwing in house, techno, eurodance and electronica classics, but also not forgetting those tracks that time has unfairly forgotten. There'll also be a few of the pop and R&B and hip hop gems from the year.

From Janet to JX to Jam & Spoon, De'Lacy to Diana King, Mariah to Morales to Motiv 8, Everything But The Girl to East 17, Blur to Baby D to Berri, Seal to Snap...

And we promise.... no Robson & Jerome!

*£5 all night

The (Unofficial) Smash Hits Poll Winners Party Reunion-Live from VogueFabricsDalston(Issue No.3)-Saturday 9th May

April 27, 2015 admin
Smash-Hits-May.jpg

It's back.. Neil Prince and David Robson invite you once again to take the ‘Locomotion’ to a destination of unapologetic pop pleasure.

Last November, our hosts had an idea. That idea was to play the best in 80’s and 90’s pop, under the influence of the much loved and missed iconic magazine, Smash Hits. It’s safe to say, it went rather well. So did the follow up of Issue No 2 back in March, silencing any critics in thei path. Which means Issue No 3 is on its way, this May! “WA HOO”

The Smash Hits Poll Winners Awards were ‘voted’ by yesterday’s youth who had to BUY (I know, BUY) the magazine and submit who they wanted to win across many different impossible genres, like Best Band (E17), Best Female (Louise), best live act (Backstreet Boys) and so on...

The results would be broadcast on a live show which was largely inaudible due to the massive screamfest of pubescent teenage girls (and boys).

If you missed it last time now’s your chance to come (“come into my arms”) and relive the magic that only 80’s and 90’s pop can bring. Join Neil and David on Saturday May 9th and don’t forget your dancing shoes!

Rehearsals in extroversion I’m a mime without a mind map So cherish me like a spectacle

Stepping on toes (shadowplay)

Empty your pockets Turn me over Cook my underside

Mimicry Sugar cube Jupiter

Infinite possibilities (impatient)

Judgements clouded by clouds No contempt for finer things No intention of an epilogue

Tracing the lines Taking the hit Catching my drift

Inferring the conclusion (delusion)
